4W 2023-2024

In Our English Entry Level, we’ve begun our descriptive writing module, we came up with loads of adjectives for a Witch, then created our own Halloween monsters and thought of even more adjectives for them!

We love playing Boggle in 4W to develop our spelling skills, Teaghan managed to get a 10 letter word this afternoon!

We’ve spent the morning in our wonderful library enjoying some books, some of us read on our own, while some of us chose to share a book with a friend.

This week, we welcomed a new student to 4W, Jack has a great start to life at PCA and has got himself stuck into school life.

Our computer skills D of E group have been exploring games on scratch using the “see inside” function to look at how they’re coded, so that we can make our own games.

As part of our PSHE work about working as part of a group we worked together to plan and run a pizza ordering service for classes in Westbury, we made posters, ordered the food, cooked it, took orders and delivered them.

Mr Blair said his pizza was delicious.

In Art this term, our project is all about eyes, our work is looking great so far!

This week, we started our D of E Bronze Award, students are taking part in activities from learning to code, to animal care and sport.

Today, we learned that rain was wet! Or more accurately, some of us learned that we need to wear a coat when it's raining, we further reinforced this lesson by listening to the water cycle song to learn about where rain comes from

In Science this week we've been learning about Health and Safety, we looked at how fires spread and tried an experiment to see if we could relight blown out candles using the vapour caused by the smoke.

We also used heat proof mats to test the flammability of some hand sanitiser

We’ve had a great start to our year in 4W.

On Thursday we had our first STEM lesson in which we designed and tested rafts!
 

The winning raft held over 100 marbles.
