This afternoon we finished off our plant pot stands adding the finishing touch of Chamfered edges using a smoothing plane and sanding the edges.
This morning at Blackpool and Fylde College the pupils started to make plant pot stands in joinery. They measured and marked their wood and so far have used saws, chisels and coping saws to cut and shape their wood.
This afternoon the Ashfield Road campus group finished off the morning's work on their frames. Using various tools they worked on bridle joints and mortice and tenon joints.
Birthday man Ben was rightly proud of the bridle joint part he'd made.

Today at B&FC on the joinery course the pupils started their assessment piece which draws on the knowledge and joints that they have learnt so far. They have begun measuring, marking and sawing pieces of wood to make a frame which will utilise mortice and tenon and bridle joints.
Kyle,Liam and Sol are helping Mr Shanagher build the bedding boxes for the garden at Westbury Sixth Form Centre.
Kayleigh, Jack, Callum and Liam made mortice and tenon joints and bridle joints under Peter's tuition. They again used tape measures, rules, tri squares, tenon saws, mortice chisels and bevel chisels in the production of these joints and improved upon their joinery and basic maths skills.
