Looking at history
The past few weeks we have been looking at photos of the past and deciding how we can tell they are from the past. We have noticed most old pictures are black and white and we can see differences in clothes and jobs too.
Children in need
1H are having a super morning for children in need and rewards morning. We are baking chocolate chip cookies. Don’t we all look fantastic in our pudsey outfits.
Paper spirals
In DT we have been building our different paper skills. Today we learnt how to curl paper around a pencil to make a spiral. We all thought it was amazing and enjoyed making lots of them and watching them spring up and down.
Recycled bottles
During the big switch off we used some empty bottles to make lava lamps. We talked about how electricity costs money and also isn’t very good for our planet. We then learnt that by recycling we will make the planet last longer.
Autumn leaf fun
This afternoon, during the big switch off, we went outside and had some great fun with all the autumn leaves.
Remembrance assembly
1H took their poppies to assembly to remember all the soldiers and animals who fought in the war.
Design technology
In DT this week we practised securing paper when we have rolled it. We turned out tubes into aliens which we have brought home to share.
Digital poppy designs
In computing, the pupils designed their own poppy’s using Purple Mash pattern repeater. They loved adding colours and watching them repeat.
Bonfire night
This morning, we learnt all about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot. Then we made our very own firework picture. We really enjoyed mixing the colours.
Paper folding
This afternoon, in DT, we practised folding paper in different ways. When we had folded it in half and half again we had a card. We chose to draw a picture and write a message inside for someone at home.
Part-part- whole
In maths we have been looking at the part-part-whole model. we used numicon and cubes to help us visualise the separating of the numbers.
Beebots
In Computing, this afternoon, we practised giving computers instructions to follow. We really enjoyed giving the BeeBots instructions to get them places.
