This week, the children enjoyed exploring the classic story of The Three Little Pigs through a fun and engaging sensory activity using straw, sticks, and bricks.
The children had the opportunity to touch, hold, and compare the different materials used by the three little pigs to build their houses. They explored the textures, weights, and sizes of the straw, sticks, and bricks, encouraging curiosity and discussion about which materials might be the strongest.
To bring the story to life, the children practised blowing on the straw, sticks, and bricks, just like the Big Bad Wolf. They observed how the lightweight straw moved easily when they blew on it, while the sticks were more difficult to move and the bricks stayed firmly in place. This hands-on experience helped the children understand the story in a meaningful way while developing their observation and prediction skills.
Through this sensory learning experience, the children developed their understanding of the story, strengthened their fine motor and oral motor skills through blowing, and enjoyed exploring cause and effect in a playful and memorable way.
The children had a wonderful time discovering why the brick house was the strongest of all!
