In history we have been looking at old transport with a focus on steam trains. Pupils collected their tickets from the train conductor, Mr Henderson, and enjoyed the authentic experience of having their tickets checked & punched. Pupils enjoyed experiencing a steam train POV “Steam trains are loud” Summer said. Pupils then engaged in a role-play train ride around school, a return trip from our classroom to ‘Jubilee Station’. Pupils focused on their spatial awareness, simple navigation skills, teamwork and instruction following, ducking when an adult shouted “tunnel” and reaching up high when going up a ‘hill’. “It was good being a train” Ryley said.
