KS5 Allotment Project: Summary
KS5 students from Oracle have made significant progress on their allotment project. They have:
    •    Marked out and constructed new raised beds using recycled materials like pallets and tyres.
    •    Prepared the soil by breaking up compacted areas, removing weeds, and adding compost.
    •    Planned and started planting a variety of crops, focusing on crop rotation and companion planting.
    •    Worked collaboratively, with each student taking responsibility for different tasks such as digging, planting, watering, and weeding.
    •    Practiced sustainable gardening by reusing materials, composting, and leaving some areas wild to support biodiversity.
The project is helping students develop practical gardening skills, environmental awareness, teamwork, and a sense of ownership, while also promoting wellbeing and sustainability. The team plans to continue planting, build additional structures, and maintain the allotment together.
