This week at Myerscough College, students got hands-on experience as part of their Animal Care course – and what a fantastic time it was! From walking animals to preparing meals and cleaning enclosures, learners developed essential practical skills while bonding with a variety of furry friends.

The collage shows students confidently walking animals, gently handling a ferret, preparing food, and caring for guinea pigs in clean, enriching environments. These activities help students build key skills like:

  • Animal handling and welfare

  • Feeding and nutrition preparation

  • Cleaning and hygiene of animal enclosures

  • Observation and care routines

  • Communication and teamwork

The sunny weather and friendly atmosphere made it the perfect day for learning outside the classroom. Myerscough’s hands-on approach is clearly helping students grow in confidence and care – both for animals and in their own abilities.

Well done to all involved! ????????????
