Setting up activities
We were challenged with setting up our own activities in a safe manner today. All students were able to carry out instructions, ask for help if needed & support their peers to create a setting for a table table tournament.
Sixth form dancers
A selection of Sixth Form students have been working hard on their dance performance for the Schools Alive Concert at the Winter Gardens. Here’s a preview of one of our fabulous dancers with their lit up wings.
Out in the community
5B & 5M have been out in the local community. They have completed a litter pick in the local area surrounding the Oracle.
BTEC Home Cooking
5J did a great job this afternoon making dough balls from scratch.
We left the dough to rise and learned that warmth made a big difference to the end product.
We then enjoyed the fresh bake with a variety of dips.
Photography
We’re working towards exam qualifications in Photography. Today we have been staging photos with small world characters to capture pictures.
Reading for pleasure
Molly our therapy dog loves to hear the students read. Elicia shared her story with Molly in our reading for pleasure session.
Public services
In our theory lesson we recalled all the reasons why participation in sports has a positive effect on social, emotional, cognitive, team building & self confidence skills.
Blackpool & Fylde College
We have focused on rallies in table tennis today. The rules were, the ball can only bounce once on the opponents side, to serve the ball has to bounce on both sides, the games are played until 11 points & the ball hitting the floor is an immediate out.
Cooking club
Today we made spicy rice in after school cooking club. We added plenty of vegetables for extra flavour & managed to sample our food before we went home.
Table tennis
During Public Services at B&FC we have been learning the rules of table tennis. This week we have focused on forehand push & serving. Lindsay our college tutor has demonstrated how to hold the bat properly through shaking hands with the students as the same grip is required.
Fitness test
We have undertaken our 2nd fitness test of the year, and most of our students fitness levels have improved. Well done guys.
Cooking at the Oracle
Our year 14 students cooked up a storm in the kitchen. We used lots of different skills chopping, dicing, grating & slicing fruits & vegetables to make pigs in blankets with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding & vegetables. Finishing off with apple & cherry flapjack & pancakes with…
