During this art activity, pupils explored body-based creative experiences by using paint on their hands to make handprints. Pupils engaged with the sensory properties of the paint, responding to the texture and feel through touch and movement. They used their hands to create marks on paper and developed awareness of how their actions produced different effects. Pupils showed preferences for colours, textures and levels of engagement through eye gaze, facial expressions, vocalisations and body movements. Some pupils independently pressed their hands into the paint and onto the paper, while others participated with adult support. The activity provided opportunities for sensory exploration, body awareness and creative expression.
