2P had an exciting day exploring how to safely interact with wildlife, This week, our class had the exciting opportunityto learn about and safely handle several fascinating animals such as: a beautiful barn owl, a blue-tongued skink, a gecko, and a fluffy rabbit! Each animal required a different approach to ensure both our safety and the animal's wellbeing.
When handling the barn owl, we stayed calm and quiet, following the instructor's directions carefully. We learned that sudden movements and loud noises can stress birds, so gentle behaviour is important. The blue-tongued skink and gecko were handled with clean, gentle hands. We made sure to sanitise our hands and avoided squeezing or grabbing them. We learnt that reptiles can be delicate, so careful kind hands help prevent injury.
After interacting with each animal, we thoroughly sanitised our hands using hand sanitiser to clean our hands afterwards.
Learning about these animals was a memorable experience everyone loved. By handling wildlife respectfully and following safety procedures, we can enjoy close encounters while protecting both ourselves and the animals!
