3H were thrilled to discover that we’d drawn Portugal in the Key Stage sweepstake, so we’ve officially launched Portugal Tuesdays — and our first one was a huge success. In English, we researched three Portuguese football legends — Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva — using iPads to work in teams and complete our player factfiles with brilliant turn‑taking and communication. In Music, we explored Fado music and learnt how Portuguese sounds helped inspire Samba before giving our own samba routine a go and impressing everyone with our dancing! Our afternoon Attention Autism session kept the theme going as we watched red and green plastic balls swirl and collide like a playful, messy football match between the colours of the Portuguese flag. Everyone then had a turn scoring a goal, listening carefully to aim for green or red. To finish, we put our fine motor skills to work by ripping and sticking coloured paper onto the correct sides of the Portuguese flag. Our finished flags are ready to decorate the classroom as we cheer on Portugal and see how far they go in the World Cup!
