Our 3H pupils had an incredible time exploring all four stages of Attention Autism as we launched our new English topic: action and adventure narrative. Excitement filled the room from the moment the mystery bag appeared, with everyone eagerly predicting what might be inside. Engagement was brilliant as the animals travelled along the path—only to tumble dramatically into the “lava”. Pupils showed wonderful sustained shared attention during this moment, sparking brilliant discussion about the problem element of an action story and the big question: How will we save them?

During Stage 3, pupils transformed into secret agents, demonstrating fantastic turn‑taking as they popped balloons to rescue hidden characters.

We finished with impressive independent fort‑building, where pupils showcased their fine‑motor skills and began identifying key narrative features such as rescue, problems and characters. A wonderful start to our action‑packed new unit.
